Ultrasound Technologist – Floater

Position Summary

Wake Radiology is seeking a skilled and patient-focused Ultrasound Technologist to perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound procedures at our Raleigh and surrounding area imaging centers. The ideal candidate will provide compassionate patient care, ensure image quality and safety, and collaborate with radiologists and referring providers to support accurate diagnostic results.

Key Responsibilities

• Review patient histories, explain procedures, and obtain relevant medical information.

• Prepare and position patients according to established protocols while ensuring comfort, privacy, and safety.

• Perform ultrasound examinations, obtain required measurements, and capture high-quality diagnostic images.

• Enter patient and exam information accurately into the electronic imaging system.

• Evaluate images for quality, properly label and organize studies, and prepare them for radiologist review.

• Assist radiologists with patient consultations and additional procedures as needed.

• Perform quality control checks, maintain required logs, and ensure equipment is functioning properly.

• Recognize and report unusual findings, equipment issues, safety concerns, and potential incidents according to established procedures.

• Maintain compliance with applicable regulatory standards, safety protocols, and infection control practices.

• Assist with training and orienting new team members while supporting a collaborative work environment.

• Maintain an organized work area, manage changing priorities, and assist other team members as needed.

• Demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, initiative, and flexibility to meet patient and departmental needs.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Degree or certificate from an accredited medical sonography program.

• Current ultrasound registry or registration appropriate for the position.

• Current CPR certification or ability to complete required training.

• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and ultrasound procedures.

• Proficiency with ultrasound equipment, imaging software, and electronic documentation systems.

• Strong communication, customer service, and critical-thinking skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

• Commitment to patient confidentiality, safety, and compassionate care.

• Required to work at all Wake Radiology locations and must provide reliable transportation.
