About the Position: This position is located at Tacoma, Washington. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Advanced in hire may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
Serve as primary health technician in the Sterile Processing Department (SPD). Performs full range of duties to decontaminate, clean, prepare, sterilize, and distribute medical supplies and equipment used in all areas of the hospital.
Rotate among various duty assignments in the section to include decontamination, instrument preparation, sterile storage, and extending operational support of crash cart supplies and equipment to areas throughout the hospital.
Conduct equipment testing of surgical instruments to ensure operational efficiency and surgical precision.
Account for and processes surgical instruments, to include complex loaner sets for scheduled cases, emergent cases, and clinic/ward instrumentation.
Package surgical items individually (e.g., scissors, tubing, instrumentation) or assembles into trays and sets.
Check the expiration date on all sterile supply items, removes all outdated items, and rotates the stock.
Conduct inventory of sterilized trays and checks package integrity and expiration dates.
