Medical Support Assistant
The position is located in the Public Health Nursing Program within the Division of Nursing at the Ft. Yuma Service Unit. This position is responsible for patient registration and eligibility verification, appointment scheduling and coordination, records and data management, well-child visits, adult immunizations and providing administrative support for the Public Health Nursing (PHN) program. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

Explain Public Health Nursing services, procedures, and appointment requirements to patients and families. Respond to telephone and in-person inquiries and refer individuals to appropriate staff or community resources. Scheduling Coordinate clinic, home visit, school health, immunization, and screening appointments. Prioritize and adjust appointment schedules to accommodate urgent patient needs. Contact patients regarding missed appointments and follow-up services. Records Management Enter, retrieve, and update patient information in electronic health record and PHN case management systems. Maintain PHN registries for immunization, diabetes, communicable disease, prenatal, postpartum, and other public health programs. Maintain accurate confidential patient records in accordance with privacy requirements. Reports Prepare recurring activity reports and statistical reports using electronic data. Maintain program files, manuals, educational materials, and correspondence. Administrative Support Prepare supply requisitions and monitor inventory. Perform filing, mail distribution, and general clerical support for the PHN program
