Medical Technician
Summary
Performs complex lab tests in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and other sections at a military medical facility, inputs results into hospital systems, and ensures quality control of lab equipment.
About the Position: This position is located at Hurlburt Field Air Force Base, FL. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Student Loan repayment may be authorized. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes.
Perform a wide variety of difficult and complex laboratory tests and examinations in the chemistry, serology, hematology, urinalysis, immunohematology, and microbiology sections of a medical treatment facility laboratory.
Select appropriate test methodology to use and recognizes when test values are positive or exceed a defined decision limit.
Independently correlate laboratory markers with certain pathological states to verify abnormal results and minimize highly complex diagnostic problems.
Input data and results in hospital-wide computer system making corrections as required for proper diagnosis and treatment of the patient.
Calibrate various analyzers as required and runs quality control samples on all instruments, making adjustments as necessary.
Screen patients and collects and processes specimens for testing.
