Summary
Perform clinical lab tests, operate analyzers, and ensure quality control for patient specimens at a military medical facility in Hawaii.
About the Position: This position is located at the Directorate of Clinical Support, Lab/Clinical Pathology at Naval Health Clinic, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. May be required to travel occasionally to an alternate treatment facility location at Kaneohe. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Advance In Hire may be authorized. This is only available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
Evaluate requested test procedure to determine suitability of specimen and requests and/or obtains new specimen if determined to be unusable.
Perform clinical laboratory tests on specimens as ordered.
Perform and calculate manual cell counts and properly identifies abnormal and normal blood cell populations.
Perform microscopic urinalysis procedures to include the proper identification of cells, crystals, casts and other urinary sediment.
Process laboratory specimens for shipment to reference laboratories using acceptable laboratory procedures.
Conduct necessary quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) procedures.
Operate, calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot all blood bank, chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, and microbiology analyzers, in addition to laboratory centrifuges.
Perform preliminary steps for instrument setup, function verification and operation for instrumentation.
