Medior Backend Engineer

Summary

Builds and operates a Java/Spring Boot microservice backend for an e-commerce marketplace, including REST APIs, PostgreSQL, Kafka, and cloud infrastructure.

You independently take features from design to release. Designing, building and reliably operating the marketplace's microservice-based backend (Java/Spring Boot) that powers the customer-facing platform.

These are the tasks awaiting you

  • Writing and maintaining code following the team's coding conventions

  • Building and documenting REST APIs (OpenAPI/Swagger)

  • Designing PostgreSQL schemas and optimising SQL queries

  • Implementing and maintaining Apache Kafka event streams

  • Writing unit and integration tests (JUnit)

  • Designing microservice architecture and service boundaries

  • Running code reviews and shaping development standards

  • Mentoring medior and junior colleagues

  • Observability (logging, metrics, tracing, alerting)

  • Supporting production incidents and performing root cause analysis

  • Performance and scalability optimisation

  • Secure coding (input validation, authn/authz, secrets)

  • Database migrations (versioned, backward-compatible)

  • External integrations (payments/billing, 3rd party)

  • Refinement and estimation

We're looking for you if you have

  • Relevant professional experience: 2–4 years

  • Java

  • Spring Boot / Spring ecosystem (Security, Data JPA)

  • REST API design

  • SQL / PostgreSQL

  • Microservice architecture

  • Apache Kafka (event streaming)

  • Docker / Kubernetes

  • Cloud infrastructure (ServerCore / cloud)

  • Design patterns, SOLID, Clean Code

  • Working proficiency in English (required), Russian and Uzbek

  • Independent delivery; confident use of the team's architectural patterns

  • On-site work in Tashkent

You'll have an advantage if you have

  • DDD / hexagonal architecture

  • Experience at a listing / real-estate or e-commerce, high-traffic platform

Work location: Tashkent, city center — primarily office-based (on-site). Remote/hybrid is not suitable for the launch phase, given the close coordination required with developers, the Bank, IT, sales, marketing and operations.
