Hybrid role based in Amsterdam; no visa sponsorship offered.

For an international client in Amsterdam, we’re looking for a medior Java Developer. You’ll work hybrid, with Amsterdam as your base location.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain microservices (REST APIs) using Java 21 and Spring Boot
  • Work with event-driven architecture via Azure Event Hub, including communication between microservices
  • Deploy and manage applications on Kubernetes (AKS)
  • Write automated tests using Testcontainers, WireMock, Mockito and MockMVC, including Kafka tests
  • Apply architectural principles such as hexagonal architecture, SOLID and DDD
  • Contribute to infrastructure as code (Terraform)

What you'll bring

  • A bachelor’s/master’s level of thinking and a 3-5 years of experience as a Java developer
  • Experience with Spring Boot and building REST APIs
  • Affinity with event-driven systems (Kafka, Event Hub) and an understanding of topics such as DLQ, message retry, message ordering and idempotency
  • Knowledge of, or interest in, container orchestration (Kubernetes/AKS)
  • Affinity with microservices architecture and the challenges that come with it (for example around communication, consistency and deployments)
  • A curiosity about how things work under the hood (for example Kafka serde) and an interest in monitoring, deployments and rollback strategies
  • You like working independently, but also actively seek collaboration within a small team

What we offer

  • Budget for training and certifications
  • Personal guidance from Outtask throughout your assignment

Please note

We are not able to offer visa sponsorship for this role. Candidates must already have the right to work in the Netherlands / EU.
