POSITION SUMMARY: As a Medium Voltage Distribution Systems Engineer at Evolution Well Services (EVO), you will be responsible for the design and engineering of medium voltage (2.4kV, 4.16kV and 13.8kV) distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, and protection systems supporting EVO's hydraulic fracturing fleet operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power system studies, protection relay coordination, medium voltage equipment specification, and applicable codes and standards, along with the ability to develop and foster productive relationships with internal cross-functional teams and external manufacturers and vendors, with the end goal of delivering safe, reliable, high-quality power distribution designs in a time efficient and budget conscious manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "May.")

  • Design and engineer medium voltage (2.4kV, 4.16kV and 13.8kV) distribution systems for EVO fleet operations, including switchgear, transformers, cabling, and associated protection systems.
  • Perform power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, and arc flash analyses, and maintain fleet power system models.
  • Develop and maintain protection relay coordination studies and settings for SEL relays (SEL 751 – Feeder Protection, SEL 787 – Transformer Protection and SEL 587 – Current Differential).
  • Specify, size, and select medium voltage cables, terminations, connectors, and cable management systems suitable for mobile oilfield service applications.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards, including ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NFPA 70E and UL, and support arc flash labeling and electrical safety programs.
  • Create and review detailed electrical designs and drawings, including single line diagrams, three line diagrams, protection and metering schematics, and equipment layout drawings utilizing CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD Electrical).
  • Support factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, and commissioning of medium voltage equipment, including troubleshooting of distribution and protection systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional, multi-disciplined teams, including engineers and project managers, to define design requirements and project goals.
  • Prepare and maintain design documentation, including scope of work, drawings, study reports, bill of materials and technical reports within the EVO PDM system (Vault).
  • Provide technical guidance to electrical engineers and designers on medium voltage design practices and standards.
  • Participate and act as subject matter expert for root cause investigations and operations support center assistance.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging the team to identify and implement process enhancements and adopt best practices.
  • Work closely with EWS supplier base for specialized MV distribution equipment.
