About the Client:
We’re an early-stage startup in San Francisco building continuous improvement infrastructure for enterprise AI agents.
Our platform creates a closed loop between how agents perform in production and the knowledge they rely on. It identifies what went wrong, fixes the underlying cause, and keeps improving both the knowledge and the agents that use it. Every failure becomes a signal that makes the whole system more reliable over time.
We’re a small, highly technical team working directly with enterprise customers.
About the role
We’re hiring a backend-leaning full-stack engineer to build the infrastructure behind our current platform and our next generation of agent products. Expect roughly 90% of your time in the backend.
The hard problems live there: data modeling, queues, execution pipelines, integrations, observability, reliability, and debugging distributed workflows. You’ll also take features through the full stack and ship the product surface that makes the underlying system useful.
You’ll have real ownership over architecture and product decisions, working directly with a small technical team and with enterprise customers.
What you’ll work on
- Build the backend systems that power our agent evaluation and continuous-improvement platform.
- Evolve the data models behind evaluation datasets, experiment runs, agent traces, knowledge versions, findings, and customer-defined quality criteria.
- Own enterprise integrations end to end: authentication, OAuth, webhooks, incremental syncs, backfills, rate limits, schema changes, retries, monitoring, and production support.
- Take features from technical design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, customer feedback, and iteration.
- Work directly with customers when needed to understand their systems, diagnose failures, and turn one-off requirements into reusable product capabilities.
What we’re looking for
- Early-stage startup experience is required. You’ve worked at both a larger company and a modern early-stage startup (under 50 people), where you had real ownership over what you built.
- Fluency with the AI tools and workflows that modern Bay Area startups use day to day.
- 3–6 years of experience as a backend-leaning full-stack software engineer.
- You’ve owned data models, pipelines or queues, or enterprise integrations in production, and you can ship the UI on top.
- Strong TypeScript; Python strongly preferred.
- You’ve built production systems for enterprise customers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Nice to have
- You’ve founded a company or are active in the hackathon scene.
- Experience with agent evaluation, LLM systems, or evals/QA.
This role may not be for you if
You’re looking for a forward-deployed engineering, solutions, product, or management/lead role. This is a hands-on engineering position focused on building core systems, though you’ll work with customers when it helps you build the right thing.
Work authorization and logistics
- You must be authorized to work in the US (US citizen, green card holder, or on OPT with multiple years remaining). We’re unable to offer visa sponsorship or immediate visa transfers for this role.
- This role is fully in office in San Francisco.
- Compensation is $180,000 – $200,000 base salary plus 0.2% – 0.7% equity, depending on experience.
We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
