Description
About GenMD
GenMD is a Stanford spin-off building AI and data infrastructure for healthcare. We grew out of years of work inside Stanford Medicine, alongside world-class researchers and clinicians, and we now work with health systems and data partners on large longitudinal datasets: claims, health records, imaging and clinical notes. We make that data usable for researchers and frontier AI, while patient privacy stays protected.
We're just coming out of stealth, already revenue-generating and well funded. We're intentionally small, move fast, and are focused on building something fundamental. Our CEO is a former Associate Director of AI at Stanford Medicine. See how we work:
About the role
You'll work on real problems from your first week: the AI and data systems behind Healthcare Datahub and our work with frontier AI teams. You'll have a named mentor, and you'll own projects end to end, from scoping to shipped.
What you'll work on
Prototype and ship LLM features for Mira, our AI research assistant: dataset matching, cohort exploration and code generation.
Build data pipelines that turn raw healthcare datasets into documented, searchable, analysis-ready products.
Run experiments and evaluations, and present what you find at our Friday showcase.
What we're looking for
Currently pursuing a B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in CS, AI/ML, data science, biomedical informatics or a related field.
Strong Python; experience with LLM APIs, PyTorch or Hugging Face.
Comfortable with SQL and messy real-world data.
Curious and self-directed; you'd rather ship something and learn than wait for a perfect spec.
Logistics
Spring, summer and fall terms; start dates are flexible.
Compensation
$45 – $60 per hour, depending on degree level and experience.
