Member of Technical Staff, Transparency, Billing & Revenue (Backend Engineer)
You will join a full stack engineering team responsible for implementing products within billing and revenue management, supporting the organization's growth as business scope, complexity, and regulatory oversight increase. You will design and build maintainable, extensible solutions for complex distributed systems, lead medium-to-large cross-functional projects end-to-end with little oversight, and break large projects down into accurately estimated tasks. You will mentor and guide others in your area of specialization, communicate across team boundaries to solve problems, and ensure knowledge is shared so no one becomes a single point of failure. You will prioritize end-user experience and business value, collaborate daily with your teammates, and thrive in a fast-paced agile environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and build maintainable and extensible solutions for complex distributed systems
- Develop and apply in-depth professional concepts to resolve complex problems creatively and effectively
- Lead medium-to-large interdepartmental or cross-functional projects end-to-end with little oversight
- Break down large projects into smaller tasks and accurately estimate time and scope
- Analyze trade-offs, justify and recommend priorities across design options
- Mentor and guide team members within your area of specialization
- Ensure knowledge is shared across the team to avoid single points of failure
- Communicate outside team boundaries and build positive working relationships across disciplines
Requirements
- Real world experience building complex distributed systems
- Deep appreciation for code quality, test infrastructure, and extensible architecture
- Prioritization of end-user experience and business value over the latest tech
- Strong computer science fundamentals including concurrency, algorithms, and data structures (formal CS degree not required)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced agile software environment and context switch between multiple simultaneous tasks
- Enjoyment of daily collaboration, learning from and mentoring others
- Completion of a mandatory in-person onboarding process
