Membership Development Manager
Location: South East Ireland, with regular travel across the county
Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week
The opportunity
Our client, a well established business membership organisation, is looking for a Membership Development Manager to take ownership of growing and looking after their membership across the whole county. Right now the work is split by area. This role brings it under one clear owner, from the first conversation with a prospect through to renewal.
You'll spend a good chunk of your time out in the business community, meeting owners and senior leaders, learning what they need, and making sure members actually feel the value of belonging. If you love meeting people, aren't put off by a no, and like seeing relationships turn into results, this is worth a look.
Where you'll spend your time
- Owning annual targets for new members, retention, engagement, and revenue
- Building and managing a county wide pipeline of prospects and converting them to members
- Visiting businesses and running regular local member sessions across several towns
- Welcoming new members and showing them how to get the most from joining
- Spotting businesses not yet involved and approaching them in a targeted way
- Managing the full renewals cycle, including communications, invoicing, and follow up
- Keeping CRM records accurate and using the data to spot trends and opportunities
- Staying close to local committees and business networks
- Feeding member feedback and emerging business issues to the CEO to shape priorities and advocacy
- Working with the events and wider team on topics, speakers, and new member benefits
- Finding member stories for communications and connecting members with each other and with useful supports
- Supporting the CEO in identifying corporate partners
- Representing the organisation at business events and meetings across the county
What you'll bring
- At least 5 years' commercial experience in business development, account management, membership, sales, or a similar B2B relationship role
- A record of hitting growth, sales, retention, or relationship targets
- Strong networking skills and excellent written and verbal communication
- Experience managing a pipeline or portfolio of accounts
- Confidence with CRM or customer management systems
- A full driving licence and willingness to travel regularly around the county
- Resilience, strong follow through, and a proactive streak
- Comfort working independently as well as part of a small, collaborative team
- Credibility with everyone from small business owners to multinational leaders
Nice to have
- Experience in a membership body, business network, or professional organisation
- Knowledge of the local business landscape and existing relationships in the area
- Experience working with both SMEs and larger corporates
- An understanding of enterprise supports and the wider business support ecosystem
