Merchandiser

Job Summary

A&L Foods is seeking an energetic and customer-focused Merchandiser to support our retail partners by ensuring products are well-stocked, attractively displayed, and positioned to drive sales. This role is responsible for maintaining shelf standards, rotating inventory, setting displays, and building strong relationships with store personnel. The ideal candidate enjoys working independently, has strong attention to detail, and takes pride in creating an exceptional shopping experience for customers.

What You'll Do

• Stock, rotate, and organize products during store visits.
• Ensure shelves, displays, and product placements meet company and customer standards.
• Remove out-of-code, damaged, or discontinued products according to customer guidelines.
• Verify all authorized products are properly tagged and located in the correct shelf positions.
• Create and maintain attractive product displays that support promotions and increase sales.
• Collaborate with store management to ensure inventory is replenished and available for customers.
• Utilize hand trucks, carts, and other equipment to transport and move products safely.
• Place and maintain promotional and point-of-sale materials.
• Monitor product performance and identify opportunities to improve merchandising efforts.
• Travel regularly throughout an assigned territory to service customer locations.
• Build positive relationships with store personnel and provide excellent customer service.
• Complete additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous merchandising, retail, sales, or related experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to travel regularly throughout an assigned territory.
• Basic computer and mobile device proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
• Experience with retail merchandising, product displays, and sales strategies.
• Experience working with grocery, food service, or consumer packaged goods products.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Frequent lifting, carrying, and moving of products weighing up to 50–75 pounds.
• Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, and climbing throughout the workday.
• Ability to use ladders, hand trucks, carts, dollies, and other merchandising equipment.
• Frequent pushing and pulling of product carts and display equipment.
• Regular travel between customer locations.
• Ability to work in a retail environment with moderate noise levels and frequent interruptions.
• Occasional computer and mobile device use for reporting and communication.
• Ability to remain professional and effective in a fast-paced environment.
