DevGate builds software and engineering solutions for clients across industries. We are growing our engineering team and looking for an experienced MERN Stack Developer who can build fast, scalable and maintainable web applications from database to UI.

Role Overview

You will work across the full MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React, Node.js) to design, build and ship production-grade web applications. You will collaborate with designers, product managers and other engineers, own features from planning through deployment, and help set technical direction and code quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain web applications using MongoDB, Express.js, React and Node.jsArchitect scalable backend services and design clean, versioned RESTful APIs (and GraphQL where needed)Build reusable, performant and responsive React components and user interfacesImplement secure authentication and authorization (JWT, OAuth, role-based access)Model and optimize MongoDB schemas, aggregation pipelines, queries and indexesIntegrate third-party services, payment gateways and APIsWrite unit and integration tests and enforce code quality through code reviewsOptimize applications for performance, scalability and securityDeploy and maintain applications using CI/CD pipelines and cloud servicesTroubleshoot and resolve production issues, and mentor junior developers

Required Qualifications

4+ years of professional experience with the MERN stackStrong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScriptDeep experience with React.js (hooks, context, Redux/Zustand or similar state management)Strong backend experience with Node.js and Express.jsHands-on experience with MongoDB (Mongoose, aggregation pipelines, indexing, performance tuning)Proven experience building and consuming REST APIs in productionProficiency with Git, HTML5, CSS3 and a modern CSS framework (Tailwind, Material UI or similar)Solid understanding of web security basics (XSS, CSRF, input validation) and system designGood communication skills and the ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Next.js, server-side rendering and static generationFamiliarity with Docker, AWS/GCP/Azure and CI/CD workflowsExperience with Redis, WebSockets or real-time featuresKnowledge of testing tools (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress)Experience with microservices, message queues or serverless architecturesExposure to AI/LLM API integrationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
