MES Technical Engineer
Summary
Designs and maintains Manufacturing Execution System (MES) software for a semiconductor fab using C/C++, SQL, and OOP; integrates with shop-floor systems and provides on-call support.
Location: Singapore
Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Role
SEMI Integration provides Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Technical DevelopmentServices to Singapore's wafer fab. We are seeking an experienced MES Technical Engineer to design, develop, customize, and support MES applications and integration components in ahigh-volume semiconductor manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will work closely with fab operations, IT, automation, and equipment engineering teams to deliver robust, high-performance manufacturing systems.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, customize, and maintain MES applications and modules supporting semiconductor wafer fab operations.
• Develop, debug, and optimize software components using C/C++ for MES core functions, background services, and system integration.
• Apply Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles to build modular, reusable, and maintainable software.
• Design, query, and optimize relational data bases; write and tune SQL statements, stored procedures, and scripts for MES data management.
• Develop and support interfaces between MES and shop-floor systems (equipment automation, SECS/GEM, scheduling, dispatching, EAP, SPC/FDC, ERP).
• Perform requirement analysis, technical design, coding, unit testing, integration testing, and deployment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, providing timely technical support to fab operations (including on call/shift support where required).
• Prepare technical documentation and specifications, and support knowledge transfer.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and client stakeholders to deliver project milestones.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Strong hands-on C/C++ development experience (production-grade software).
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and design principles.
• Strong database and SQL knowledge — relational database design, complex queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, or equivalent).
• Proficiency in both English and Chinese (Mandarin) —required to liaise effectively with Chinese-speaking client stakeholders, engineering teams, and to work with Chinese-language technical documentation.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred/ Advantageous Qualifications
• Relevant semiconductor / wafer fab industry experience, particularly with MES platforms (e.g., Applied MaterialsFab300/SiView, Camstar, or equivalent).
• Experience with 300mm (12") wafer fab operations and automation.
• Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing flows, WI tracking, dispatching, and equipment integration.
• Familiarity with SECS/GEM, GEM300, EAP, or equipment automation standards.
• Experience with additional languages/technologies (Java, C#, .NET, Python, shell scripting) and Unix/Linux and Windows environments.
• Exposure to Agile/DevOps practices, version control (Git/SVN), and CI/CD.
• Experience working in a client-facing or services/consulting environment.
What We Offer
• Opportunity to work on advanced MES solutions in a cutting-edge 300mm semiconductor fab.
• Exposure to leading-edge manufacturing technology and industry best practices.
• Career development within a specialized semiconductor systems integration team.
