Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–3:00 PM (with flexibility based on operational needs)
Monitors and manages daily operations for laboratory support services and oversees support staff.
Works with vendors to ensure necessary supply availability and maintains technologies aligned with industry practices.
Develops ongoing quality assessment activities to ensure compliance with regulatory and governmental requirements.
Leads and participates in laboratory performance improvement activities, promoting team building, employee engagement, patient satisfaction, and safety.
May include transport of hazardous waste from the point of generation to a designated secure storage area; employee will be required to complete initial training (prior to handling hazardous waste) and refresher training to include proper handling and transport of hazardous waste, and proper selection, use and disposal of personal protective equipment.
Provides orientation and training to new employees and students, documenting the process appropriately.
Manages employees in hiring, coaching, or termination with limited supervision from leadership. Schedules and facilitates department meetings routinely.
Follows safety policies including the use of PPE, handwashing, and hazardous chemical handling, and completes required training for handling hazardous waste.
Manages staff using effective scheduling, assigning workloads, and troubleshooting problems.
Actively participates in laboratory and hospital performance improvement activities, including evaluating new equipment or procedures, preparing and reviewing staff quality and efficiency reports, and monitoring staff performance.
Coordinates and facilitates the clinical experience of students in affiliated education programs.
Serves as a liaison with other departments to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Facilitates workflow when necessary to ensure smooth operations.
Provides guidance to lab support staff for resolving customer service issues and supports education for clinical staff as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to provide daily direction to lab support staff
Ability to ensure departmental compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements
Exhibits technical skills and aptitudes related to the specific laboratory specimen collections as performed in department or work area assigned.
Displays the ability to comprehend, measure, reason, match, problem solve, and exercise judgment under minimal supervision.
Strong organizational skills
Exhibits ability to make appropriate decisions in stressful situations and handle multiple priorities and projects.
Exercises mature, independent judgment and the ability to handle confidential information within Hospital guidelines and applicable regulations.
Builds and maintains effective, productive teams and appropriate peer relationships to facilitate organizational objectives.
Ability to utilize standard computer related applications, and ability to learn and apply new applications and programs.
Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English
Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
Exhibits knowledge of applicable regulatory standards, rules, and guidelines such as Joint Commission, OSHA, AABB, AOA, CAP, CLIA, and related agencies.
Able to effectively communicate verbally and in written form in English with patients, staff, and customers of varied backgrounds in a respectful, effective, and professional manner.

Licenses and Certifications:
NHA Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) [Preferred] OR NPCE Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) [Preferred] OR ASPT Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) [Preferred]
Basic Life Support (BLS) [Preferred]

$72,189.82 - $134,259.75Background Screening Requirement (Florida Law)
