Microbiological Analyst
Summary
Runs microbiological quality-control testing at Red Bull's Chilliwack facility — sampling and analyzing raw materials, products, packaging, and the production environment. Also maintains lab equipment, writes SOPs, schedules environmental monitoring, and contributes to HACCP and food-safety systems using LIMS and ISO/GMP/GLP practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Execute microbiological analysis for the quality control of raw materials, semi-finished products, packaging materials, and the production environment.
Conduct and support sampling activities, including incoming goods sampling, establishing sample drawing procedures, collecting samples, and transferring samples to the laboratory.
Prepare microbiological samples, use or prepare plates, incubate samples, evaluate results, add explanatory comments where required, document analysis results, and create reports.
Execute maintenance, calibration, and coordination of laboratory equipment service, repairs, and supplier appointments as required.
Develop, validate, adapt, and document microbiological methods, SOPs, and quality-management documentation for the Chilliwack facility.
Collaborate with and support the laboratory team, production, quality assurance, quality control, and facility management during startup and routine operations.
Schedule and complete environmental monitoring activities on monthly, quarterly, or other defined cycles, and coordinate testing requirements with production.
Collaborate within the company's HACCP team and contribute to food-safety and quality-system requirements.
Support startup projects, non-routine cleaning, system tests, equipment setup, documentation readiness, and continuous improvement activities.
Strong analytical and technical skills and proficient in the use of laboratory equipment.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO, GMP, GLP, or similar quality systems.
Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and data analysis software.
Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
BSc. in Microbiology-related fields or equivalent experience or training. Master's degree is an asset.
The expected annual base salary range for this position is $73,150 to $80,850. The actual base salary for this position will depend on various factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience and work location. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus in accordance with the terms of Red Bull’s bonus plan.
