Microsoft 365 Systems Administrator - AI

Discussion

Summary

A 12-month fixed-term role based in Alice Springs building AI agents, workflows and proof-of-concept solutions on Microsoft 365, Azure and Copilot Studio, while supporting M365 administration and introducing AI under enterprise security and risk controls.

Are you strong across Microsoft 365 and Azure, and spending your own time experimenting with AI, building agents, automations, or applications? You don't need to already have "AI Specialist" on your CV.

We're looking for someone with strong Microsoft 365 technical knowledge and a genuine interest in building with AI. Your AI experience could come from your current role or from your own projects - what matters is that you've gone beyond simply using AI tools and have actually experimented, built, and learned.

This is an opportunity to join an organisation at the beginning of its AI journey and help build its capability from the ground up in a 12-month fixed-term role.

What you'll be doing

  • Build and test AI agents, workflows and proof-of-concept solutions
  • Explore practical ways AI can improve business processes and employee services
  • Work across Microsoft 365, Azure, Copilot Studio and related technologies
  • Work with the broader IT team to introduce AI within appropriate security and risk controls
  • Keep across emerging Microsoft and AI technologies and help shape how they're used across the organisation

What we're looking for

Your background could be in Microsoft Systems Administration, M365 Administration, Azure, Cloud or a similar hands-on technical role.

You'll bring:

  • Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft 365 and its administration
  • Good Azure knowledge and understanding of the Microsoft cloud ecosystem
  • Hands-on experience building AI agents, automations, workflows or applications - professionally or through personal projects
  • Some coding or scripting capability
  • An understanding of enterprise security, permissions and risk
  • Curiosity, initiative and a genuine interest in developing your career in AI

You don't need previous commercial experience as an AI Engineer or AI Specialist. If you've been building AI solutions at home, we'd like to hear what you've built, the tools you've used and what you've learned.

About the opportunity

You'll be joining an environment where Microsoft and AI capability is still developing, so this will suit someone who enjoys experimenting, solving problems and building new capability rather than stepping into an established AI function. The role is permanently based in Alice Springs and is not FIFO. You must be willing to relocate and live locally.

Indigenous applicants are highly recommended to apply.
