Microsoft SCCM / Citrix Engineer
Position Summary:
The SCCM Engineer has a primary task is to provide enterprise-level desktop engineering and design through the design, engineering, configuration, administration, maintenance / support of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
Currently, the SCCM environment supports roughly 2,600 devices. Handling multiple assignments concurrently, leveraging experience and skill in handling complex assignments, and coordinating tasks among a small team is required.
In addition to managing the SCCM environment, the Windows engineer will also be responsible for a 200 user Citrix Xenapp 6.5 environment. Primary responsibility will be to maintain the current environment and ensure all services are operating efficiently.
What are the primary responsibilities of the Role?
- Monitors and tunes database environments on Sybase ASE from version 12.x to the latest
- Troubleshoots and resolves database related issues.
- Analyse and evaluate existing SCCM configurations and strategy
- Determine and implement best practices for the engineering, configuration, administration, and support of SCCM
- Design and implement business applications/packages into the SCCM application framework
- Assist desktop engineering with SCCM Windows desktop OS deployment and automated build processes, including performance tuning
- Provide extensive troubleshooting in the installation and configuration of SCCM; diagnose SCCM desktop deployment issues (defects, errors, inconsistencies in system function, outputs, etc.) and perform root cause analyses
- Remediate issues through controlled and organized incident management processes
- Design and implement software packaging and patching strategies for windows desktops
- Assist in the conversion of existing automated deployment tools and processes into SCCM
- Produce basic project plans and root cause analysis documents; report progress to management
- Develop partnerships and collaborate with key support, architecture, engineering, and security teams
- Provide internal team support, guidance, and mentorship with the engineering and support of SCCM
- XenApp & 6.x Administration
- Windows Server 2003/2008/2012 Troubleshooting
Experience & Qualifications
Mandatory (critical for the Role):
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years' experience in SCCM Administration, Application Packaging, SOE design and support of systems that support 5,000+ users
- 5+ year experience supporting multiple Citrix environments in a global environment
- Experience with Microsoft server 2012, Windows 7 and Windows 10 operating systems, desktops, print servers, printers, MFDs, plotters, Java, Adobe, VMware (vCenter, vSphere, application virtualization, desktop virtualization, VMware View)
