Are you ready to make a lasting impact? We’re offering a permanent position for a Microsoft Security Specialist who thrives in Defender XDR and Purview solutions whilst enjoying the challenge of solving complex technical challenges.

The Role

As our Level 3 technical authority for Microsoft Defender XDR and Microsoft Purview, you will own complex implementations end to end, from design through to documentation and operational handover, and work directly with clients to assess risk and shape practical security strategies. You will be the senior escalation point for the wider engineering and cyber team in this area and have input into technical scoping as we grow the practice.

What You’ll Do:

• Deploy and tune the platform: Implement, configure and optimise the full Defender XDR stack (Endpoint, Office 365, Identity, Cloud Apps and Vulnerability Management) alongside Microsoft Purview across DLP, information protection and sensitivity labelling, insider risk, data lifecycle management, eDiscovery and Compliance Manager.

• Onboard clients and uplift maturity: Onboard customers onto Defender XDR and Purview and progress their maturity against frameworks such as the ACSC Essential Eight, NIST and ISO 27001.

• Lead incident response: Investigate alerts and incidents surfaced in the Defender XDR portal and Purview, and resolve security incidents and data protection breaches promptly.

• Run security and governance assessments: Use Defender Vulnerability Management, Microsoft Secure Score and Purview compliance posture to identify gaps, recommend the right controls and drive remediation.

• Own delivery end to end: Take responsibility for complex implementations, delivering them on time with appropriate documentation and a clean operational handover.

• Partner with clients: Act as the primary technical contact, assessing security and data protection needs and developing tailored Defender XDR and Purview strategies that reduce risk.

• Lead technically: Coach and support other members of the Microsoft cyber team and contribute to demonstrations and technical scoping activities.

Your Skills & Experience

• Relevant Microsoft certifications such as SC-200, SC-401 or SC-100 strongly preferred; CISSP or CEH advantageous

• In-depth, hands-on specialisation in Microsoft Defender XDR (Endpoint, Office 365, Identity, Cloud Apps and Vulnerability Management) and Microsoft Purview

• Proven work experience in cybersecurity or a similar role within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) or Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) environment.

• Microsoft Purview experience across DLP, information protection and sensitivity labels, insider risk management, data lifecycle management, eDiscovery and Compliance Manager.

• Essential Eight, ACSC, NIST, CIS, ISO 27001, security hardening, data governance and cyber and data protection policies

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and detail-oriented approach to Defender XDR operations and Purview data governance.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills, with the ability to engage clients, partners and internal teams.
