Mid-Level Back-end Developer
Summary
Builds and runs the Node.js/TypeScript microservices behind trilLOAN, a Philippine lender marketplace — owning lending, transaction, user and notification services, loan lifecycle logic, and payment partner integrations. Works with Express REST APIs, MySQL, Kafka, Socket.IO and ships to AWS.
Salary: ₱40,000 – ₱50,000 per month
About the role
trilLOAN is a lender marketplace in the Philippines. Lenders publish loan offers on the platform, and borrowers find and apply for the loans that fit them. Lenders set their own loan terms, manage a cash bond and track repayments. Borrowers apply, get funded and repay in the app. Both sides use built-in chat, KYC and credit scoring. We're hiring a mid-level backend developer to build and run the Node.js/TypeScript microservices behind the app. The core of the job is the lending, transaction, user and notification services. You'll work closely with our Flutter mobile and Next.js admin teams and ship to production on AWS.
Key responsibilities
Build and maintain the services that match lenders and borrowers: lender profiles, published loan configurations and their constraints, and borrower-facing loan discovery.
Own the loan lifecycle end to end: application, approval, disbursement, repayment schedules, extensions, overdue handling and demand letters.
Build lender tools: cash bond balance and history, portfolio and outstanding balance views, and payment history.
Implement calculations precisely, with tests that cover edge cases and rounding.
Support KYC, account upgrades (borrower to lender) and credit score features with the admin and compliance teams.
Build reliable money-movement flows with payment partners (NetGlobal, Finscore, BillEase, ECPay, Giftaway), with idempotency, retries and reconciliation.
Keep complete audit trails for every financial transaction, status change, and admin action.
Model data and write performant SQL on MySQL 8 (AWS RDS), including schema changes and safe migrations.
Design, build and maintain REST APIs in Express + TypeScript across the lending, transaction, user, partner, notification, messaging and admin services.
Publish and consume events on Kafka between services and keep message contracts versioned and documented.
Build real-time features with Socket.IO, such as live chat and ticket updates between borrowers, lenders and support.
Configure routes on the KrakenD API gateway, and document endpoints with Swagger/OpenAPI for the mobile and admin teams.
Deliver push (Firebase, Expo) and SMS (M360) notifications for loan events, due dates and OTPs.
Implement secure auth flows: JWT, OTP, MPIN, account lockout and device checks.
Protect borrower and lender personal data in line with the Data Privacy Act. Validate all input with Zod and follow OWASP practices.
Write unit and integration tests (Mocha, Chai, Supertest) and keep build validation passing.
Ship services as Docker containers through AWS CodeBuild/CodeDeploy to EC2 behind load balancers.
Monitor production with Sentry, take part in incident response, and fix root causes.
Use AI-assisted tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) for coding, test writing, code review and documentation. Verify all output before merging.
Review pull requests in Azure DevOps, write technical docs, and mentor junior developers.

Comfortable with Docker and with deploying and debugging services on AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, load balancers).
