emagine is searching for a mid-level (4-5 years) backend engineer for one of our clients in Stockhom

Start: Asap (or within 1 month)

Duration: 1 year to start with

Location: Stockholm, 2-3 days/week at the office

Our client runs a "perfect-offer" decisioning service that scores and ranks offers in real time on the live customer decision path. The role centres on turning credit variables and decision data into sound offer outcomes through composite scoring and configurable steering strategies, and evolving the platform to scale safely as strategies, markets, and products grow.

What You'll Do

  • Improve core components of the scoring and ranking pipeline, downstream integrations, and strategy configuration, focusing on latency, reliability, and accuracy under load

  • Build and tune ranking and steering rules, keeping decisions correct and explainable

  • Harden the service for production through performance testing, observability, and resilient design

  • Contribute as a strong technical voice on the team, supporting architectural decisions and raising concerns where a design doesn't hold up

Your profile

  • Strong Java experience building high-availability, correctness-critical backend services, with a genuine sense of ownership in production

  • Comfort with distributed-systems concerns: latency, resiliency, idempotency, and observability

  • Hands-on experience with modern Java and Spring Boot; familiarity with Gradle, Kafka, and Avro is a strong plus

  • Experience in finance or another regulated, high-stakes domain is a bonus, not a requirement
