Mid- Level Construction Estimator / Preconstruction Estimator
We are seeking a Construction Estimator / Preconstruction Estimator to join our growing team. This position is responsible for developing accurate construction estimates, quantity takeoffs, budgets, and bid proposals for a variety of general construction and mixed-use projects.
The ideal candidate has 2–4 years of construction estimating experience and is comfortable reviewing construction drawings, performing quantity takeoffs, obtaining subcontractor and supplier pricing, and developing competitive project estimates.
We are open to candidates with experience in commercial construction, residential construction, multifamily, mixed-use, renovation, or general contracting. Candidates with strong field experience who are looking to transition into estimating are also encouraged to apply.
What You'll Do
Prepare construction cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and bid proposals using architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and other project documents.
Review plans and specifications to identify project scope, materials, labor requirements, and potential cost risks.
Prepare estimates for projects from conceptual design through final bid submission.
Solicit pricing from subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and trade partners.
Review, compare, and level subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.
Develop labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and general condition costs.
Research historical project costs, current market pricing, and unit costs to support accurate estimates.
Assist with conceptual estimates, preliminary budgets, GMPs, and value engineering.
Identify scope gaps, discrepancies, exclusions, risks, and potential cost savings.
Prepare bid packages, scope sheets, bid summaries, and other preconstruction documents.
Assist with change order estimates and pricing throughout the project lifecycle.
Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and other members of the construction team.
Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, job walks, and subcontractor meetings as needed.
Maintain historical cost information, subcontractor pricing, and unit cost databases.
Assist with the handoff of awarded projects from preconstruction/estimating to project operations.
Manage multiple estimates and bid deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
2–4 years of construction estimating experience preferred.
Experience with general contracting, commercial construction, residential construction, multifamily, mixed-use, renovation, or similar construction projects is a plus.
Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, sequencing, and industry practices.
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, engineering plans, specifications, contracts, and scopes of work.
Experience performing quantity takeoffs and construction cost estimates.
Experience soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and vendor bids.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Experience with estimating or takeoff software such as Bluebeam, ProEst, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), STACK, BuildingConnected, or similar platforms is preferred.
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
Ability to organize multiple projects, bids, and deadlines simultaneously.

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project management and operations teams.
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
Education & Experience
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Equivalent construction, field, project management, or estimating experience will be considered in place of a degree.
