Summary

Build real-time exchange connection layers in Java to sync crypto market data for a new trading platform, optimizing low-latency JVM systems and event-driven architectures.

Mid-Level Software Engineer (Java) Exciting new FDI

About the Company:

Our client is a global leader in digital asset innovation, building technology that bridges traditional finance and the emerging crypto economy. Their mission is to create trusted, high-performance systems that enable institutions to seamlessly integrate digital assets into their portfolios and operations.

As part of their continued global expansion, they are establishing a new engineering hub in Belfast focused on building the next generation of trading and connectivity technology.

The Role:

You'll join a brand-new engineering pod in Belfast tasked with building a real-time exchange connection layer to synchronize data between multiple cryptocurrency exchanges. This will form the backbone for a new trading platform launching next year.

Working in close collaboration with the global engineering team, you'll be involved in the design, development, and optimization of low-latency systems that handle large data flows in real time. As the Belfast hub grows, this pod will later be supported by QA, DevOps, and Support Engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain real-time systems connecting multiple crypto exchanges.
  • Work with event-driven architectures to synchronize large volumes of data efficiently.
  • Optimize JVM performance and contribute to high-availability, low-latency system design.
  • Collaborate closely with other developers and stakeholders to deliver robust, scalable solutions.
  • Participate in agile development cycles, contributing to continuous improvement and technical excellence.

Essential Criteria:

  • 2+ years of software engineering experience (strong Java preferred; other languages considered if willing to pick up Java quickly).
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented design and distributed system principles.
  • Experience with AWS and event-driven architectures.
  • Exposure to financial systems or trading environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with messaging or streaming systems (e.g., Kafka).
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with an interest in performance optimization.
  • Crypto knowledge or enthusiasm for the space is a distinct advantage.

Why Join:

  • Join an early-stage engineering pod in Belfast shaping key architecture from day one.
  • Work on cutting-edge digital asset and trading technology used by institutions worldwide.
  • High degree of autonomy and ownership within a collaborative, supportive environment.
  • Opportunity for long-term career progression as the Belfast hub expands.
  • Competitive salary, bonus, and benefits package.
