About the role
We’re looking for a Backend Software Engineer to join an innovative technology team working at the intersection of software engineering and Artificial Intelligence. You’ll join an innovative technology team working at the intersection of software engineering and Artificial Intelligence, building the infrastructure and internal frameworks used to evaluate the quality, reliability, and behavior of AI agents.This is a backend-heavy engineering role focused on designing and building the systems, tools, and evaluation processes that help determine whether AI agents are behaving as expected. You won’t be building AI models themselves, but you’ll work closely with AI-powered systems and gain hands-on exposure to LLMs and AI agents. The role requires strong foundations in software engineering, algorithms, architecture, system design, and problem-solving, as well as the ability to reason through complex problems, challenge assumptions, and clearly explain technical decisions. You’ll work with an internal framework alongside experienced engineers in a highly technical environment where curiosity, critical thinking, and strong engineering fundamentals are highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain backend services and infrastructure used to evaluate AI agents
- Design and implement reliable systems for testing and evaluating agent behavior
- Work with internal frameworks and contribute to their evolution
- Apply strong software engineering principles to build scalable and maintainable solutions
- Participate in architectural and system design discussions
- Solve complex technical problems involving algorithms, data structures, and backend systems
- Analyze unexpected system or agent behavior and reason about potential causes and solutions
- Collaborate with other engineers and clearly communicate technical decisions and trade-offs
- Explore and contribute to new approaches for evaluating AI-powered systems
Requirements
- 2–3 years of professional software engineering experience, ideally in backend-focused roles
- Strong fundamentals in software engineering, algorithms, data structures, architecture, and system design
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to reason through unfamiliar or complex problems and clearly explain your approach
- A curious and critical-thinking mindset: you’re comfortable challenging assumptions, identifying when something doesn’t look right, and proposing better solutions
- Python is preferred, but strong backend engineers with experience in other programming languages are welcome
- Genuine interest in Artificial Intelligence, LLMs, or AI agents
- Professional AI experience is not required, but exposure through work or personal projects is highly valued
- Experience in startups, scale-ups, fintechs, or technology-driven companies is a plus, particularly in agile environments with strong engineering standards
- Bachelor’s degree completed in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Advanced English with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Based in Bogotá, Colombia and comfortable working in a hybrid model (1 day per week in the office)
