Position Summary
The Middle School Athletic Trainer / Administrative Coordinator is responsible for promoting the health, safety, and well-being of middle school student-athletes by providing comprehensive athletic training services while supporting the daily administrative operations of the Middle School Athletics Program. This position provides injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, emergency medical care, and return-to-play management for student-athletes, ensuring care is developmentally appropriate and aligned with school policies, state regulations, and athletic governing body guidelines.
A Day in the Life
As the Middle School Athletic Trainer / Administrative Coordinator, you'll spend your day supporting the health, safety, and success of our student-athletes. You'll provide injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and emergency care while coordinating with families, coaches, and healthcare providers to ensure students receive the support they need.
In addition to caring for students, you'll manage athletic medical records, coordinate equipment and supplies, assist with game-day logistics, and support the daily operations of the Middle School Athletics Program. During practices and competitions, you'll be on the sidelines providing immediate care and helping students safely return to play. Every day offers the opportunity to build meaningful relationships, promote student wellness, and contribute to a safe, positive, and inclusive athletic experience.
Primary Responsibilities
- Administer treatment for athletes’ injuries and conditions
- Create rehabilitation programs
- Maintain medical files for all athletes
- Provide athletic training supervision at all home events
- Create conditioning programs for injury prevention
- Create medical binders/bags for all athletic teams
- Refer athletic injuries to physicians for diagnosis and/or treatment (MS and US)
- Inventory, organize, and replenish athletic training room supplies
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized athletic training room
- Comply with OSHA standards with regard to bloodborne pathogens
- Comply with HIPAA laws to ensure privacy and safety of information regarding athletes
- Use a variety of therapeutic modalities to prevent and treat injuries
- Ability to recognize life-threatening situations and administer the appropriate emergency aid
- Monitor athletes completing all necessary paperwork to be eligible to compete
- Åssist the Athletic Director with daily operations and daily administrative tasks
- Assist with the development and maintenance of athletic calendars, schedules, and operational timelines.
- Aid in the coordination of student information and rostering.
- Assist in communications from the athletic department.
- Provide coaches with schedules, resources, operational information, and logistical support.
- Communicate athletic department expectations regarding safety, supervision, sportsmanship, and student development.
- Assist with game-day preparation, setup, and breakdown.
- Welcome visiting teams, officials, and spectators, and ensure a positive event experience.
- Support crowd management and the enforcement of sportsmanship expectations.
- Support facility reservations, practice spaces, and competition venues.
- Support inventory management for athletic equipment, uniforms, and supplies (e.g., laundering practice vests, team uniforms, & towels/rags).
- Assist with equipment distribution, collection, maintenance, and replacement planning.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certified
- Athletic Training Certified (ATC)

Compensation and Benefits
The full-time equivalent salary range for this position is $76,500 - $102,000. The starting salary is based upon, but not limited to, several factors that include type and years of experience, education level, and expertise.
