Middleware API Management and AWS Integration Engineer
You design, implement, operate, and support an enterprise integration platform across data centers and cloud providers. You develop AWS API solutions, troubleshoot critical production issues, automate provisioning with infrastructure as code, improve observability and resiliency, create operating procedures, write knowledge articles, and train staff.
Responsibilities
- Design, evolve, implement, and support the enterprise integration platform across data centers and cloud providers
- Develop and operate AWS API Gateway enterprise API platforms
- Serve as a point of escalation for operational issues and critical events
- Create automation roadmaps and implement policy-driven operations using infrastructure as code
- Troubleshoot production issues across APIs, observability tools, networking, integrations, and downstream services
- Develop standard operating procedures and write knowledge articles
- Train staff on AWS API Gateway, integration patterns, security, observability, and platform engineering practices
Requirements
- AWS certifications related to architecture, networking, or security are strongly preferred
- At least 5 years of experience with large-scale mission-critical production platforms
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and operating AWS API Gateway enterprise API platforms
- Expertise in AWS API Gateway, REST APIs, HTTP APIs, WebSocket APIs, authentication, authorization, lifecycle controls, and security
- Experience designing secure and scalable AWS API architectures using API Gateway, Lambda, ECS/EKS, ALB/NLB, and private integrations
- Experience with performance testing, resiliency testing, load testing, and capacity planning
- Strong troubleshooting skills across AWS API Gateway, CloudWatch, X-Ray, networking, integrations, and downstream services
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as CloudFormation and Terraform and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience integrating AWS API solutions with identity providers such as PingFederate and PingID
- Expertise in multi-account and multi-region AWS deployment models, resiliency, failover, disaster recovery, and infrastructure standardization
- Experience with AWS integration services including Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, SQS, and SNS
- Expertise with OpenShift, Kubernetes, and AWS-native deployment environments
- Experience with Spring Boot, Java, microservices, Docker, REST, SOAP, Postgres, CI/CD, Bitbucket, and Azure DevOps
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline, or equivalent education and experience
