Position Overview

The Milken Mart Associate reports to the Food Service Manager and supports the daily operations of Milken Food Service, serving students in grades 6–12. This position performs a variety of food service, customer service, cashiering, inventory, stocking, merchandising, and operational support functions.

Milken Mart Associates work closely with students, faculty, staff, parents, volunteers, vendors, and guests to provide efficient, safe, and high-quality service while fostering a positive and welcoming dining experience.

The Milken Mart Associate receives and stocks deliveries, maintains product availability, assists with inventory, supports meal service and special events, and ensures food service locations are clean, organized, stocked, and prepared for daily operations and the following school day.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily food service operations across campus locations.
  • Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, parents, and guests.
  • Operate Point of Sale (POS) systems and assist with transactions.
  • Receive, inspect, unpack, organize, and stock deliveries, products, supplies, and inventory.
  • Rotate products using First-In, First-Out (FIFO) procedures.
  • Maintain clean and organized storage areas, refrigerators, freezers, shelves, carts, and service locations.
  • Assist with inventory organization, replenishment, and product availability.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate product and supply needs.
  • Transport products, supplies, equipment, and inventory between campus locations as needed.
  • Prepare, stock, replenish, and merchandise food service locations throughout the day.
  • Support meal service, after-school programs, meetings, special events, and other operational needs as assigned.
  • Use email, POS systems, inventory software, and other technology tools to support daily operations and communication.
  • Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, and allergen-labeling requirements.
  • Complete end-of-shift and closing procedures, including cleaning and organizing service areas, restocking products and supplies, securing equipment and inventory, and preparing food service locations for the following school day.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and welcoming food service environments.
  • Foster a service-oriented environment that reflects the mission and values of Milken Community School.
  • Sunday shift responsibilities may also include:
    • Receiving, unpacking, organizing, and stocking deliveries, supplies, and inventory.
    • Conducting inventory organization, rotation, and replenishment using FIFO procedures.
    • Replenishing products and maintaining service areas throughout the day.
    • Supporting meal service, after-school programs, meetings, and special events.
    • Completing end-of-shift and closing procedures.
    • Cleaning, organizing, restocking, and preparing food service locations for the following school day.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • ServSafe Food Handler Certification or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Previous experience in food service, hospitality, retail, customer service, or an educational environment preferred; training will be provided for qualified candidates.
  • Strong customer service, communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with students, faculty, staff, parents, vendors, volunteers, and guests.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including email, POS systems, inventory software, and other workplace technology, or a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently, follow directions, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, professionalism, and commitment to maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment while working in a school environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain eligibility to operate school vehicles, golf carts, and other approved vehicles in accordance with school policies.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and move products, supplies, and equipment as needed.
  • Ability to lift and carry products, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds and move heavier items with assistance or appropriate equipment.
  • Ability to travel between campus locations and safely operate a golf cart, school vehicle, and other approved vehicles, as required.

Standard On-Campus Hours

The standard work hours for this position are 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The schedule for this position may be Sunday - Thursday or Monday - Friday, depending on operational needs. Assigned workdays may vary, based on operational needs. Hours may occasionally vary for special events or other school-related needs.

Salary Range: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
