Mine Planning Superintendent (Mining / LOM / Deswik / Open Pit / Medium to Short term planning) – Johannesburg Reference Number: AR025 Job Description: One of our longstanding clients is currently in search for a Mine Planning Superintendent to join their team. The Mine Planning Superintendent is a hands-on leadership professional responsible for mentoring, coaching, and developing a team of mine planning specialists while providing technical support to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective mining operations. Responsibilities: Plan and schedule mining activities in line with safety, environmental, and quality standards. Develop cost-effective mine plans to achieve production targets. Lead mine planning projects and manage LOM, medium and short-term schedules. Oversee mining budgets, forecasts, and strategic planning cycles. Monitor compliance with approved mine plans and schedules. Coordinate with operations and contractors to ensure dump construction meets design and budget requirements. Review and optimize dump designs based on operational performance. Coach, train, and develop the mine planning team. Requirements: Qualification and Skill Mining Engineer with 8+ years' metalliferous mining experience. Five-ten years open pit mining experience, with at least three years in a senior technical role. Proven contractor management experience. Strong communication and leadership skills. Proficient in Surpac, Vulcan, Deswik, and Alastri. Experience in LOM, medium-, and short-term mine planning. Ability to mentor and develop engineering teams. Strong mine planning and ROM production expertise. Budgeting, cost optimization, and commercial/contractor management. Mine-to-Mill reconciliation and operational performance improvement. Travel to sites as required - To spend 1 week per month in the DRC Bachelor in Mine Engineering Valid Driving License Benefits: A comprehensive compensation package. Full time employment.
