Mission Lead Systems Engineering Manager Senior III
NewWe are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Mission Lead Systems Engineer to lead Space Vehicle missions while developing a team of lead systems engineers. The individual needs to be a self-starter able to execute autonomously, willing to stretch outside of current knowledge areas, and open to executing the entire engineering lifecycle. The role requires technical leadership, customer interfacing, problem-solving, and quick decision-making. Salary commensurate with abilities and experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and support a team of technical leads to deliver on their programs.
Enact efficient systems and processes with clear roles, responsibilities, and expectations.
Perform management duties including regular one on ones, performance evaluations, coaching/mentorship, hiring, training, etc.
Oversee and execute a space systems design/integration program.
Ensure mission requirements are met and appropriately verified.
Interface with key mission partners.
Technical problem solving.
Lead meetings with customer and internal/external partners.
Work with interdisciplinary teams to ensure program success.
Resolve program blockers and communicate needs to maintain mission execution.
QUALIFICATIONS
BS in Systems Engineering or related technical field.
5-15 years of experience as a system engineer or similar broad technical role.
Project leadership experience (such as chief systems engineer, product lead, or team lead).
Team leadership experience (such as manager or program lead).
Understanding of the SE ‘V’, the interdependencies associated, and ability to apply the methodology to program execution.
Experience in interpreting customer (internal and external) needs and expectations.
Strong technical problem-solving skills.
Engagement with multidisciplinary teams.
Experience in the design and/or test of a space vehicle.
Experience leading requirement derivation and verification activities.
Experience in all or most phases of a program life cycle.
Strong communication and coordination skills: verbal, written, and presentation.
Strong interpersonal skills and techniques for eliciting and motivating team performance.
Functional leadership experience (such as reviewing performance and providing performance feedback).
Planning and organizing skillsets including schedule definition, cost estimation, and personnel forecasting.
Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C.
Must be eligible for a security clearance.
