MOBILE CLINIC MEDICAL ASSISTANT / DRIVER
NewBe an early applicantPrism Health Lab is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to support mobile community health clinics throughout Chicago and surrounding areas. This is a hybrid clinical and operations role responsible for providing hands-on patient services, driving our large mobile medical van, and assisting with the setup and breakdown of community health events. The ideal candidate has experience with vaccinations, point-of-care screenings, patient intake, and community-based healthcare and is comfortable driving a large/high-roof van. Spanish-speaking candidates are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Patient Care
- Obtain blood pressure, vital signs, and patient intake information.
- Administer influenza, school-required, and other approved vaccines under appropriate clinical supervision.
- Perform HIV and Hepatitis C rapid testing and other point-of-care screenings.
- Assist with blood glucose, cholesterol, and other event-specific health screenings.
- Provide and educate patients on naloxone kits according to event protocols.
- Assist with phlebotomy and specimen collection when required.
- Review patient records and assist with clinical documentation.
- Educate patients regarding screenings, vaccines, results, and recommended follow-up.
- Follow HIPAA, infection-control, and patient-safety protocols.
Mobile Clinic Driving & Operations
- Safely drive a large/high-roof mobile medical van to and from events (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter).
- Load and unload medical equipment, supplies, tents, tables, and event materials.
- Set up and break down vaccination, screening, and examination stations.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and event-ready mobile clinic.
- Monitor supplies and assist with inventory and equipment readiness.
- Support patient flow and overall event operations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Medical Assistant experience required.
- Experience administering vaccines required.
- Experience performing point-of-care testing and health screenings preferred.
- Experience with HIV/Hepatitis C rapid testing strongly preferred.
- Phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must be comfortable driving a large/high-roof van.
- Able to lift, load, unload, and set up mobile clinic equipment.
- Flexible weekday and weekend availability.
- EMT/EMT-B experience or certification is a plus.
- Spanish-speaking ability strongly preferred.
- BLS/CPR certification preferred.
- Experience in mobile clinics, community health, vaccination clinics, or outreach events preferred.
Salary range: $20–$25 per hour
