WORK HOURS: 40 Hours Per Week (Varies)
NATURE OF WORK: The Mobile Crisis Specialist II provides support, crisis intervention, and referrals to those in crisis in Valley’s catchment area during both traditional and non-traditional business hours. This person works primarily out in the community while traveling using a company vehicle and returning to the county office to complete the necessary documentation for the clients. The Mobile Crisis staff will complete Mental Hygiene Petitions, as well as contact community referral resources for individual placement as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Greets callers to Valley’s 24-hour Crisis Line appropriately during shift, acting in a non-judgmental and caring manner regardless of race, sex, ethnicity, and culture, and responding to callers with empathy and respect. The MCS II will utilize active listening skills and the crisis intervention model during calls.

Serve as a personal guide and mentor for individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders.

Assists individuals in need of crisis support and/or referrals.

Share and discuss common experiences while answering questions about services, support available, and necessity of care to promote mental health awareness to clients.

Help individuals rediscover, access, and utilize ways to maintain mental health by reducing the harm associated with behaviors that are negatively affecting their mental health.

Seeks out information while keeping up to date with new/changing information that affects the Crisis/Helpline including developing knowledge about resources in the caller’s area.

Reports to the authorities and completes appropriate forms for high-risk calls. Offers and completes follow-ups as appropriate.

Builds and Maintains relationships with first responders such as EMS, Police departments, Fire departments, 911 Emergency, and any other emergency entities helpful for clients.

Facilitates the Mental Hygiene Process when an application is filed.

Link & refer individuals to resources for treatment, family support, education, housing, and local & online support groups.

Works with other agencies, hospitals, providers, etc. to ensure the referral process is offered.

Facilitates admissions to private, public, and State Hospitals as necessary.

Promotes appropriate community interactions by handling public interactions in a professional and competent manner. Returns phone calls and requests for information in a timely manner, promotes a positive image of the agency, and maintains good rapport with agency contacts.

Provide initial screenings to perspective consumers when they are requesting services and inform of current walk in –procedures.

Handles provision of on-site/off-site crisis stabilization, crisis intervention, and clinical evaluation.

Completes and submits documentation as required by Valley, Medicaid, Medicare, Private Insurances, and any other licensing agency. Employee ensures all documentation is submitted in a timely and accurate manner in each consumer’s EMR.

Demonstrates ability to continuously work closely with & show respect to all Crisis & LEAD Program Team members in a professional, positive, productive way while promoting cooperation, teamwork, and collaboration daily.

Adheres to Valley’s standards of conduct and compliance and follows ethical guidelines of their profession. Follows Valley policies and procedures regarding paid time off, call-offs, and other attendance issues.

Supports and helps in the training of new employees.

Provides supportive counseling.

Attends all mandated meetings and trainings related to profession and enhances knowledge and/or skills which include Learning Management System (LMS) Trainings.
