Mobile DevOps Engineer (Flutter)

Summary

Build and maintain mobile CI/CD pipelines and release workflows for Flutter, iOS, and Android apps using AWS, Fastlane, and Firebase.

General Responsibilities

The Platform Engineer (Mobile & Release) is responsible for leading the engineering, automation, and operational management of the organization’s mobile delivery and release platforms. The role focuses on building and maintaining secure, scalable, and efficient mobile engineering workflows that support the delivery of high-quality mobile applications across iOS and Android platforms.

Working closely with Software Engineers, Solution Architects, DevOps Engineers, Product Managers, QA teams, and external technology partners, the Platform Engineer oversees mobile CI/CD pipelines, release orchestration, deployment standards, application distribution processes, and platform reliability initiatives. The role ensures that mobile engineering platforms, deployment pipelines, and operational processes align with enterprise engineering standards, security requirements, and business continuity objectives.

The Platform Engineer acts as a delegated operational and release engineering authority of the Head of Software Engineering, supporting platform governance, release management, automation initiatives, and continuous improvement of the organization’s mobile engineering ecosystem.

Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of mobile application delivery and release management processes for Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline architecture, deployment automation, and DevOps practices.

  • Understanding of mobile application frameworks including Native iOS/Android, React Native, and Flutter build processes.

  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and services within AWS environments, including CodePipeline, CodeBuild, IAM, and S3.

  • Familiarity with Firebase services including App Distribution, Remote Config, Cloud Messaging, and Crashlytics.

  • Understanding of mobile application security, code signing, credential management, and deployment compliance requirements.

  • Knowledge of version governance, dependency management, and backward compatibility strategies for distributed systems.

  • Familiarity with software engineering standards, release governance processes, monitoring practices, and operational support models.

Skills

  • Strong experience in designing and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines for mobile platforms.

  • Ability to manage complex mobile release workflows, deployment strategies, and platform operations.

  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills for deployment, integration, and production issues.

  • Excellent technical documentation and process design skills.

  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills across engineering, QA, product, operations, and external partners.

  • Ability to mentor engineering teams on release processes, automation standards, and deployment practices.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of mobile CI/CD pipelines and release engineering workflows.

  • Manage and maintain Apple App Store Connect and Google Play Console configurations, including certificates, provisioning profiles, API keys, and store metadata.

  • Oversee automated application submission and deployment processes using Fastlane and related platform tools.

  • Ensure mobile release pipelines comply with organizational security standards, platform policies, and operational requirements.

  • Support and optimize mobile build and deployment pipelines for Native iOS/Android, React Native, and Flutter applications.

  • Manage mobile application version governance, dependency management, and compatibility coordination with backend services and APIs.

  • Plan and implement mobile force update strategies and phased rollout approaches in coordination with engineering and product teams.

  • Design and maintain AWS-based deployment workflows using services such as CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and related cloud infrastructure components.

  • Integrate automated testing, deployment validation, and release monitoring into mobile delivery pipelines.

  • Manage Firebase App Distribution workflows and support release validation, feature flagging, remote configuration, and deployment monitoring activities.

  • Monitor application release health, deployment success rates, crash analytics, and operational stability using monitoring and observability tools.

  • Collaborate with Solution Architects to ensure deployment platforms and operational processes align with enterprise architecture standards.

  • Work with outsourced development partners and external vendors to ensure application release processes and deployment requirements align with organizational standards and operational readiness expectations.

  • Identify and address operational risks, release bottlenecks, deployment inefficiencies, and platform reliability concerns.

  • Maintain technical documentation for deployment standards, release procedures, platform configurations, and operational workflows.

  • Participate in platform governance, release planning activities, operational reviews, and strategic engineering initiatives delegated by the Head of Software Engineering.

  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of complex production deployment and release-related incidents when required.

  • Promote automation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering organization.
