JOB DESCRIPTION FOR BIRTH TO FIVE SCHOOLS MOBILE EDUCATOR

Status: Non-Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act

Pay Rate: Pay levels are as follows:

Level 1: $14.50 hrly – Has Certificate of Mastery, Age Appropriate CDA, or Home Visitor CDA

Level 2: $15.40 hrly – Has Associate Degree in Early Childhood or Adult Education.

Level 3: $20.00 hrly – Has Bachelor Degree w/hours equivalent to Early Childhood Associate

Level 4: $26.06 hrly – Has Bachelor Degree with Oklahoma Teaching Certificate w/Early Childhood endorsement.

Supervisory Relationships: Directly supervised by the Operations Manager. Receives on-site instructions/assistance from the School Supervisor and works cooperatively with the Managers. Position does not have supervisory duties.

Purpose: The purpose of the Birth to Five Schools Mobile Educator is to provide services to pregnant women and/or to infants that are birth to three years of age. Services include prenatal information, parenting skills, child development, social services, and health services. In addition to home visits, the Mobile Educator provides group socialization activities.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Schedules and conducts home visits weekly to provide child development, parent education, and family support. Plans and facilitates parent-child interactions groups and parent support groups.

2. Uses developmentally appropriate curriculum from Partners for a Healthy Baby. Develops Family Partnership Agreements with each family. Provides support to families to achieve their goals.

3. Conducts regular case reviews of assigned Birth to Five Schools families. Completes case notes and all folder documentation as required. Completes data entry utilizing program software on assigned families. Completes weekly reports that identify progress in meeting program goals and service delivery data. Participates in staff and case management meetings.

4. Seeks in-kind contributions of time and supplies from the community and documents appropriately to help meet the in-kind match requirement of the program. Documents in-kind correctly and reports monthly. Recruits families. Completes enrollment. Conducts screening/assessment of enrolled participants and their families within 45 days.

5. Coordinates and develops linkages with other family support services. Serve as an advocate and trains parents to advocate for themselves and their families. Design and implement a formal system of follow up for families who have referrals.

6. Works with other program staff as assigned to provide developmentally appropriate Early Intervention services. Participates in IEP and IFSP meetings as required.

7. Participates in in-service/preservice training. Participates in continuing education required by the Head Start Performance Standards or Southwest Oklahoma Community Action Group, Inc. Uses ROMA principles to establish performance management goals and to improve the focus on program and family outcomes.

8. Other related duties as assigned.

Performance Expectations:

1. Confidentiality of client data is essential.

2. Comply with program and licensing guidelines. Abides by SOCAG Personnel Policies and adheres to Performance Standards.

3. Attend training as required. Must maintain any training or certification requirements. Training may require some evenings, weekends, and/or overnight travel.

4. Is expected to schedule visits when the parent(s) are available. This may include evenings and some weekends. Schedule is provided to supervisor monthly. Observations will be conducted during the home visits.

5. Must be able to build rapport with a variety of families and with children.

6. Completes reports and required documentation accurately and timely. Enters data into computer on assigned families.

7. Remains current on trends regarding infant and toddler growth and development as well as methods for teaching parents. Provides a good role model and is able to relate the unique problems of low-income and minority families.
