Job Summary:
The Mobile Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on mobile equipment used throughout a steel pipe manufacturing facility. This position supports the safe and efficient movement of pipe, raw materials, and finished products by maintaining forklifts, side loaders, pipe handlers, overhead material handling equipment, trailers, and other mobile industrial equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on forklifts, pipe handlers, side loaders, trailers, and other mobile equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and fuel system issues
- Inspect equipment to identify worn or damaged components and recommend corrective action
- Troubleshoot engine, transmission, brake, steering, suspension, and hydraulic system failures
- Repair and replace motors, pumps, cylinders, hoses, bearings, chains, brakes, and other equipment components
- Conduct routine safety inspections and ensure equipment meets company and regulatory safety standards
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs to minimize production downtime
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical drawings
- Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and basic machining as needed to repair equipment and components
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and work orders
- Assist with equipment installations, modifications, and upgrades
- Coordinate with operations personnel to prioritize repairs and maintenance activities
- Maintain housekeeping standards in maintenance areas and work sites
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and lockout/tagout requirements
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and operational efficiency
- Perform other duties as assigned
