About Jerritt Canyon

The Jerritt Canyon deposit was discovered in 1972, and the first gold production from the property occurred in 1981. The Jerritt Canyon property contains 30,821 hectares of mining claims located in the mining-friendly state of Nevada. First Majestic acquired the Jerritt Canyon Gold Mine from Sprott Mining Inc. on April 30, 2021. In May 2023, operations were suspended to prioritize exploration and technical studies. Jerritt Canyon is now entering a new phase of evaluation and planning, requiring substantial technical support to advance the work necessary for a potential future restart of operations.

  • Reinforce safe maintenance practices, including lockout/tagout, isolation procedures, working at heights, stored energy, lifting and rigging, and other applicable mine-site requirements.
  • Ensure training aligns with applicable legislation, site procedures, company standards, and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Work with Maintenance leadership to establish competency matrices and individual development plans.
  • Track training completion, assessment results, qualifications, and competency records.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving equipment availability, reliability, maintainability, and maintenance quality.
  • Stay current with new equipment technologies, diagnostic systems, electrification, automation, and evolving maintenance practices.
  • Coach and mentor maintenance personnel in troubleshooting techniques, systematic fault-finding, and best-practice maintenance procedures.
  • Collaborate with OEM representatives and external training providers when specialized technical training is required.
  • Support audits and provide documentation demonstrating training and competency compliance.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and lead by example in all training activities.

The above duties and responsibilities represent the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.

Education and Experience

  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet applicable mine-site driving requirements.
  • Relevant instructor, adult-learning, vocational training, or workplace-training certification is preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR and applicable mine-site safety certifications are preferred.
  • 5–10 years of hands-on maintenance experience with heavy mobile equipment, preferably in an open-pit, underground, quarry, or other mining environment.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and troubleshooting mobile mining equipment.
  • Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical/electronic systems, powertrains, braking systems, steering systems, HVAC, and associated mobile equipment systems.
  • Experience using OEM diagnostic software, electronic service tools, schematics, technical manuals, and computerized maintenance systems.
  • Previous experience training, coaching, mentoring, or assessing maintenance technicians.

  • Experience with competency-based training and practical skills assessments is highly desirable.
  • Experience working within a structured safety management system and a strong understanding of mine-site safety requirements.
