We are seeking a Mobile Plant Operative to play a vital role in supporting site operations, ensuring the safe and effective movement of materials while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and equipment care.

About the Role

As a Mobile Plant Operative, you will be responsible for operating a range of mobile plant machinery, including:

  • Dumpers

  • Front End Loaders (Loading Shovels)

  • Excavators

  • Other mobile and occasional static plant equipment

Working under the direction of Site Management, you will ensure all machinery is operated safely, efficiently, and in line with company procedures and industry regulations. You will also carry out routine maintenance checks and support the site's commitment to operational excellence and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate mobile plant and machinery for which you are certified.

  • Conduct daily inspections and complete plant check sheets accurately.

  • Perform routine maintenance including refuelling, greasing, cleaning, and basic upkeep in line with manufacturer and company requirements.

  • Report any defects, faults, or operational concerns to the General Foreman or Site Management.

  • Ensure equipment is operated economically and efficiently.

  • Complete near-miss and safety reports when required.

  • Assist with operating additional plant equipment as directed and appropriately certified.

  • Maintain a safe working environment and comply with all health and safety procedures.

  • Adhere to Quarry Regulations and company operating standards at all times.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Experience operating heavy mobile plant machinery within a quarry, construction, or industrial environment.

  • EPIC certification for mobile plant operations.

  • NVQ Level 2 in Mobile Plant Operations.

  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards.

  • Ability to carry out routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance.

  • A proactive approach to safety and operational performance.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable

  • Experience operating multiple types of mobile plant equipment.

  • Knowledge of Quarry Regulations and industrial site operations.

  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work.
