Mobile Platform Engineer

Summary

Owns the core Flutter mobile app architecture, shared components, and performance tooling while shaping engineering standards to boost team productivity.

About the Role

Our Foundation team builds the technical base that all product teams rely on — from the Flutter mobile app and core backend services to developer experience and AI infrastructure. As a Mobile Platform Engineer, you will own the core of the Flutter app: shared components, architecture, and performance. You'll also shape the engineering standards that keep the wider organisation productive.

This is a high-leverage, platform-level role. The systems you maintain determine how confidently other teams ship features. If you take satisfaction in making others faster and more capable — whether or not your name is on the release notes — this role is for you.

What You'll Do

  • Own the core of the Flutter app, including shared components, the design system, performance tooling, and internal libraries.

  • Define how features are built by establishing patterns for state management and backend integration, and guide product teams in applying them consistently.

  • Improve the end-to-end developer workflow — from CI/CD and app store distribution to internal tooling — removing recurring friction that slows other teams down.

  • Integrate AI tooling into the codebase and engineering workflows, and help shape its role in the product over time.

  • Keep the existing foundation healthy and dependable so product teams can build on it with confidence.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Several years of experience delivering production software at scale, ideally including ownership of mobile application architecture.

  • Strong, multi-year hands-on experience building mobile apps with Flutter and Dart.

  • Solid mobile DevOps experience: CI/CD pipelines, app store distribution, and release management.

  • A genuine interest in AI as an engineering surface — curiosity and pragmatism matter more than a formal background.

  • A preference for improving systems that slow others down; clear reasoning about trade-offs and effective cross-team communication.

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience in a platform, infrastructure, or developer-experience focused engineering role.

  • Background in EdTech, consumer mobile, or other high-scale B2C applications.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: €80,000 – €110,000 per year, depending on experience.

  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Location

This is an on-site role based in Berlin, Germany. Candidates must be located in or willing to relocate to Berlin.
