Role Purpose

The Volunteer – Monash Meals supports the delivery of meals and related services to community members. Volunteers play a vital role in ensuring clients receive meals safely, respectfully, and on time, while contributing to a positive and supportive community service environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation, packing, and/or delivery of meals to clients

  • Follow food safety, hygiene, and work health and safety procedures

  • Provide courteous, respectful, and professional interactions with clients

  • Report any client concerns or incidents to Monash Meals staff

  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy in line with government policies

  • Support staff and other volunteers as required

Skills and Attributes

  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to community service

  • Friendly and respectful communication skills

  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures

  • Willingness to work as part of a team

  • Sensitivity to the needs of older adults and vulnerable community members

Requirements

  • Ability to meet volunteer screening requirements (e.g. police check, working with vulnerable people check, if applicable)

  • Capacity to perform light physical tasks (such as carrying meal containers)

  • Driver’s licence and access to a vehicle (for delivery roles, if applicable)

Training and Support

  • Full induction and role-specific training provided

  • Ongoing support and supervision from Monash Meals staff

  • Opportunities to develop skills and gain experience in community services
