Money Laundering Reporting Officer
You will hold the UK MLRO designation and own the UK AML/CTF programme end to end. You will manage relationships with UK regulators, oversee SAR quality and submissions, implement regulatory changes, produce management information, and lead AML/CTF audits. You will also develop compliance staff and embed UK requirements into group policies.
Responsibilities
- Own the UK AML/CTF programme, including policy, controls, training, and audit.
- Serve as the primary contact for the FCA, NCA, and other UK authorities.
- Manage regulatory requests, SAR quality oversight, and NCA submission timeliness.
- Implement regulatory changes from FCA guidance, JMLSG updates, and Money Laundering Regulations changes.
- Produce decision-ready management information for the Senior Executive Team and Board.
- Manage internal and external UK AML/CTF audits.
- Guide and develop compliance staff working on UK matters.
- Embed UK requirements into group policies with global compliance counterparts.
- Use AI tools to support regulatory research and drafting while maintaining judgement.
Requirements
- 5 to 7 years of experience in a senior compliance or MLRO role at a UK-regulated fintech or financial institution with direct FCA accountability.
- Working knowledge of POCA 2002, the Money Laundering Regulations 2017, the FCA Handbook, and JMLSG guidance.
- Experience managing FCA engagement, NCA SARs, and banking and payments partner due diligence.
- Experience leading AML/CTF audits, responding to regulatory scrutiny, and defending compliance programmes with evidence.
- Data and analytical skills, including Excel and the ability to turn compliance data into management information.
- Experience mentoring compliance teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Ability to operate in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
