About the Role

We are seeking an experienced MongoDB Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and support enterprise database environments across both MongoDB and multiple SQL/NoSQL database platforms. You will be responsible for ensuring database availability, security, performance, scalability, and operational excellence for mission-critical systems.

This role is ideal for a DBA with strong MongoDB expertise and hands-on experience supporting production database environments.

Key Responsibilities

MongoDB Administration

  • Administer, maintain, and optimize MongoDB databases in production and non-production environments.
  • Configure and manage MongoDB Replica Sets, Sharding, Backup & Recovery.
  • Perform database installation, upgrades, patching, migrations, and health checks.
  • Monitor database availability, utilization, and performance.
  • Implement database security, user access management, and governance.

Database Operations

  • Provide day-to-day operational support for enterprise database platforms.
  • Monitor database environments and resolve incidents promptly.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
  • Support application deployments involving database releases and schema changes.
  • Maintain database documentation and operational procedures.
  • Ensure database environments meet High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) requirements.

Performance Tuning

  • Identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks.
  • Optimize queries, indexing strategies, schema design, and resource utilization.
  • Conduct capacity planning and performance forecasting.
  • Collaborate with development teams to improve database efficiency.

Cross-Platform Database Support

Support and administer multiple database technologies, including:

  • MongoDB
  • PostgreSQL
  • MySQL
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Oracle (preferred)
  • Redis
  • Cassandra
  • Elasticsearch
  • Other modern SQL and NoSQL databases

Monitoring & Incident Management

  • Monitor database health using enterprise monitoring tools.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and performance degradation.
  • Ensure database SLAs are consistently achieved.
  • Participate in on-call support when required.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • At least 4 years of experience as a Database Administrator.
  • Strong hands-on experience administering MongoDB in production environments.
  • Experience managing multiple SQL and NoSQL database platforms.

Required Technical Skills

  • MongoDB (Replica Sets, Sharding, Backup & Recovery, Security)
  • SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or equivalent RDBMS
  • NoSQL technologies such as Redis, Cassandra, or Elasticsearch
  • Linux/Unix administration
  • Shell, PowerShell, or Python scripting
  • Database monitoring and observability tools
  • High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR)

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
  • Docker and Kubernetes
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or Ansible)
  • Experience supporting enterprise or mission-critical systems
  • MongoDB Certification is an advantage
