Are you an experienced leader with a background in drinking water sampling, analytical services or regulatory environments?

We're looking for a Monitoring Team Manager (Technical Manager) to lead our Monitoring team within Analytical Services. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring our sampling activities meet regulatory requirements, quality standards and safety expectations while delivering excellent service across the business.

As the designated Technical Manager, you'll provide expert technical leadership, oversee resource planning and budgets, drive continuous improvement and work closely with regulators and industry groups. You'll also lead and develop a team of Team Leaders, ensuring they have the skills, support and tools needed to succeed.

This is an excellent opportunity to shape best practice, influence key business decisions and play a vital role in protecting water quality for our customers and communities.

Your day to day tasks will include;

  • Leading and developing a team of Team Leaders within the Monitoring function.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, ISO 17025 standards and company quality processes.
  • Managing resources, budgets and operational performance to meet business and sampling requirements.
  • Providing specialist technical advice and support on sampling-related matters.
  • Driving continuous improvement, problem solving and quality assurance activities.
  • Building effective relationships with regulators, industry groups and internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting recruitment, training and development across the team.
  • Promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
  • Monitoring performance data and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and quality.

You can be based around out Severn Trent Patch. You’ll work within our 80 person monitoring team. With this being such a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us 37 hours a week.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for someone with;

  • Significant experience within drinking water sampling, water quality, analytical services or a similar regulated environment.
  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant scientific discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working within an ISO 17025 and/or DWTS accredited environment.
  • Proven leadership and people management experience.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Excellent planning, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Financial and commercial awareness with experience managing budgets and resources.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable experience includes chartered status, knowledge of capital investment processes, lean methodologies and involvement in relevant industry groups.
