Monticello Education Intern - Peoria PlayHouse Children's Museum
Duties: Under the general supervision of the Education Manager – PlayHouse, the Monticello Education Intern is responsible for the following:
- Coordinate field trips and other group visits, including birthday parties and rentals as needed.
- Communicate with individuals interested in booking field trips.
- Complete bookings in the museum calendar and in the museum's booking system.
- Assist in setup and facilitation of interactive field trip experiences, including leading selected field trips.
- Lead programs at the PlayHouse, and collaborate on/contribute to programs in other Park District locations as needed.
- Assist visitors on the museum floor.
- Attend PlayHouse staff meetings and contribute to the overall work of the team.
- Participate in Park District-wide program planning and review.
- Follow all Peoria Park District rules, policies, and procedures.
- Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the Peoria Park District’s safety program.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Due to constraints related to the funding for this position, candidate must be a female (as defined by the candidate), and must have recently completed an undergraduate or graduate degree.
Essential Functions:
- The work requires periodic physical exertion in handling supplies, equipment, and materials typical of the hospitality industry.
- Prolonged standing, bending, stooping and ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds are required on a periodic basis.
- Must have the ability to manipulate keyboard, phone, and cash machines.
- Must be able to bend at waist and knees in order to interact with children.
