Motility Technician II, Gastroenterology, Full-Time, Days

Summary

Performs GI diagnostic tests (e.g., esophageal manometry, pH impedance) and trains staff; analyzes results, supports research, and educates patients and observers.

The Motility Technician II is responsible for on call pager, training employees across the system in this role, host/train observers, provide patient education, collaborate with physicians/care teams on patient care and appropriate orders, responsible for all analysis and reports associated with their patients assist with clinical research studies.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform multiple GI related diagnostic test and procedures on patient which include but not limited to Esophageal Manometry, pH Impedance, Anorectal Manometry, Hydrogen Breath Test, H. Pylori Breath Tests, Bravo Capsule pH tests, and EndoFLIP studies. This procedure includes passing a catheter through a patient's nose and into the esophagus and appropriately recording all measurements.
  • Appropriately record all measurements, analyze and interpret the results for each procedure and provide this interpretation to physicians in a timely manner.
  • Assist within clinical research studies.
  • Work with internal and external resources to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with product and service representatives from multiple medical equipment vendors.
  • Training and standardizing of Motility Technicians and RNs at all NM sites.
  • Responsible for observer-ships through outside NM facilities (London Clinic, Advocate, etc.)
  • Patient and staff education, including creation of all resources, for pre and post procedure.
  • Host observers and training related to mano for non-NM facilities.
  • Collaborate with physicians and staff to review and advise patient care and appropriate orders.
  • This role may support additional projects, perform administrative tasks, and other duties as assigned.

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent
  • BLS
  • SGNA Associates Education Training Program (within six months of hire)

Preferred

  • 2 years of healthcare experience or within a similar role
  • Trans-natal intubation
