Position Overview
We’re seeking an experienced LMR Systems Engineer with deep hands-on experience in Motorola Land Mobile Radio (LMR) networks to support a federal customer in sustaining and modernizing nationwide mission-critical communications. This engineer will take ownership of ASTRO 25 infrastructure, MCC7500 dispatch consoles, and subscriber programming, ensuring interoperability, coverage, and operational reliability in high-security environments.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Engineer, configure, and maintain Motorola ASTRO 25 infrastructure (GTR8000, GCP8000, site controllers, comparators, and MCC7500 dispatch consoles).
- Develop, manage, and deploy code plugs and fleetmaps for subscriber radios (portable, mobile, and control stations) using Radio Management and CPS tools.
- Conduct system performance testing, RF coverage analysis, and diagnostics using tools such as GenWatch, LSVT, and coverage mapping software.
- Integrate LMR systems with IP networks, ISSI/CSSI gateways, encryption modules, and dispatch/recording solutions.
- Perform firmware and software upgrades, system patching, and network configuration updates.
- Support field maintenance, troubleshoot coverage/interference issues, and document technical baselines.
- Collaborate with program managers, system administrators, and federal stakeholders to maintain continuous operational readiness.
- Provide mentoring and training to field technicians and end users on LMR operation, programming, and troubleshooting.
