A data engineer builds and optimizes data pipelines, integrations, and data models across cloud and on-premises environments using the Microsoft ecosystem — Azure (Data Factory, ADLS), Databricks, the SQL Server BI stack (SSIS/SSAS/SSRS), and Power BI/Fabric — translating business requirements into reliable analytics solutions. Hybrid role based in Lisbon and/or Porto.

Data Engineer (Microsoft Ecosystem)

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our team and help build scalable, high-performance data solutions using Microsoft technologies.

In this role, you will work on data engineering and BI projects across both cloud and on-premises environments, contributing to the design, development, and optimization of modern data platforms. You will collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into reliable and efficient data solutions.

The role combines data engineering, integration, and analytics expertise, with a strong focus on Microsoft-based ecosystems.


Responsibilities:

  • Build data pipelines to move and transform data across cloud and on-premises systems
  • Create and maintain data models that ensure high data quality and performance
  • Integrate data from multiple sources while applying governance and validation rules
  • Implement optimized datasets for reporting and analytics use cases
  • Work with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions

Requirements

  • BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 2+ years of experience in data engineering, integration, and/or ETL/ELT processes
  • Proficiency in:
    • SQL
    • Python
  • Hands-on experience developing data integration and pipeline solutions (ETL/ELT)
  • Experience with data architecture and modeling (dimensional and/or relational)
  • Experience working with Microsoft cloud technologies (e.g., Azure, Databricks)
  • Experience with on-premises data engineering tools:
    • SSMS
    • SSAS
    • SSIS
    • SSRS
  • Understanding of data quality, governance, and/or data modeling for Power BI
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Azure Data Factory
    • Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS)
    • Databricks
    • Microsoft Fabric (nice exposure considered)
  • Ability to work in a hybrid model (Lisbon and/or Porto)
  • Fluency in English

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with:
    • T-SQL / KQL
    • Power BI
    • Microsoft SSIS / SSAS / SSRS
    • Microsoft Purview
    • Streaming/data engineering tools (e.g., Kafka)
  • Experience working in consulting or enterprise environments
  • Availability to work on client premises when required
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal in PT-PT and EN)
  • Ability to balance business understanding with technical expertise
  • Collaborative and proactive mindset
