A leading packaging manufacturer in Northampton is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their established engineering team due to continued growth and investment across the site.

THE ROLE
As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for both planned and reactive maintenance across a range of production and packaging machinery. You will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production equipment

Respond to breakdowns in a timely and effective manner

Fault finding on electrical and mechanical systems

Work with PLC-controlled machinery (fault diagnosis, not necessarily programming)

Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing activities

Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and in line with company standards
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Multi-skilled maintenance background (electrical and mechanical)

Experience within manufacturing or packaging environments

Strong fault-finding skills across electrical and mechanical systems

Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and motors

PLC fault-finding experience (Siemens / Allen Bradley desirable)

Ability to work independently on shift and respond to breakdowns effectively

Apprenticeship trained or relevant engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
SHIFT PATTERN
Currently working a Double Days shift pattern (06:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00), with a planned transition to a 3-shift rota by the end of the year.
