Music Therapist
Summary
Provides music therapy sessions and programs to support students with diverse needs, collaborating with educators and health professionals to enhance engagement and learning outcomes.
OVERVIEW
To provide therapeutic interventions using music and music-based activities to support students with diverse needs to enhance student participation, engagement, well-being and learning outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Clinical Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive music therapy assessments to identify students’ strengths, needs, interests and therapeutic goals.
Collaborate with teachers and allied health professionals to integrate therapeutic goals within educational environments.
Execute and monitor therapy process with students: including referral, assessment, goal setting, evaluation and discharge.
Develop and implement music therapy programmes that meet the needs of the students.
- Adapt intervention to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities and complex support needs.
- Contribute to case discussions and Transdisciplinary Team meetings
2. Training & Support
- Conduct training for parents/caregivers
- Conduct training for staff
3. Administration
Keep proper records of all assessments, interventions.
Maintain inventory of department and makes recommendations for purchases of new materials and equipment
Participate actively in sub-committee meetings/Projects (some of which include Case & Review Sub-committee & Professional Sub-committee etc) or any ad-hoc project
Assist HOD in the administration of the department.
4. Research
Participate in research and programme evaluation projects
5. Other Assignments
Undertake any other responsibilities and duties as deemed necessary and beneficial for the Association to attain its Mission and Vision.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree or Master of Arts in Music Therapy from a recognised institution.
Relevant work experience in the same or related field preferred.
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced multidisciplinary team.
Eligible for registration with The Association for Music Therapy (Singapore) (AMTS) or with another relevant overseas professional body.
