This is a leadership role focused on medium-voltage commissioning and electrical safety across utility-scale battery energy storage projects.
You will lead a regional team of senior power systems technicians while ensuring strong technical, operational, and safety performance.
The role covers product-level commissioning of battery storage systems, string inverters, MV Skids, and associated electrical equipment.
You will play a key role in MV switching, energization, isolation, grounding, LOTO, testing, troubleshooting, and turnover activities.
The position combines people leadership with hands-on technical oversight and escalation management across complex projects.
You will collaborate with commissioning, operations, maintenance, and client-facing teams across Canada, the United States, and Latin America.
This is an opportunity to contribute to the safe deployment and reliable operation of large-scale renewable energy infrastructure.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead and manage a regional team of Senior Power Systems Technicians, including workload allocation, coaching, professional development, performance management, and technical support.
  • Plan workforce capacity and authorization coverage to ensure appropriately qualified personnel are available for commissioning, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and operational activities.
  • Assess technician competency for medium- and high-voltage work and product commissioning, recommending appropriate training, qualifications, and authorizations.
  • Establish and monitor performance indicators covering safety compliance, commissioning throughput, maintenance turnaround, and team effectiveness.
  • Serve as the escalation point for technical, operational, and electrical safety issues identified by field teams.
  • Oversee product-level commissioning activities for battery storage systems, string inverters, MV Skids, and associated electrical equipment.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve commissioning procedures, testing practices, technical documentation, and sign-off requirements.
  • Support equipment testing, startup, troubleshooting, energization, de-energization, and project turnover activities.
  • Coordinate with site commissioning teams responsible for the broader commissioning program, grid compliance and testing, and client handover.
  • Oversee medium-voltage switching activities, typically up to 34.5kV, when control-of-work responsibility is held or delegated to the team.
  • Ensure safe execution of isolation, grounding, LOTO, energization, de-energization, and switching activities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes and standards, including CSA, NEC, IEEE, NFPA, OSHA, and local utility requirements.
  • Travel to project sites across the Americas as required, particularly during commissioning, energization, switching activities, and other major operational milestones.
  • Requirements:

    • Extensive experience working with medium-voltage electrical systems, typically up to 34.5kV, in utility-scale infrastructure, renewable energy, BESS, substations, power generation, or comparable environments.
    • Demonstrated experience performing, supervising, or authorizing MV switching activities, including electrical isolation, grounding, LOTO, energization, and safe work planning.
    • Proven experience in commissioning, operations, maintenance, or field-service environments involving complex electrical systems.
    • Experience leading electrical technicians, commissioning professionals, field-service teams, or other technically qualified personnel.
    • Strong knowledge of North American electrical safety codes and standards, including CSA, NEC, IEEE, NFPA, OSHA, and applicable utility requirements.
    • Experience supporting commissioning, energization, operations, maintenance, or field-service activities for complex electrical infrastructure.
    • Experience developing or implementing electrical safety procedures, switching procedures, permits, risk assessments, method statements, and operating standards.
    • Degree, diploma, trade qualification, or equivalent practical experience in electrical engineering, power systems, electrical technology, or a related discipline.
    • Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to balance technical requirements, operational priorities, safety considerations, and team performance in high-responsibility environments.
    • Willingness and ability to travel across the Americas as required.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive salary of $130,000–$170,000, plus annual bonus.
      • Full-time employment.
      • Hybrid work arrangement with remote work from Canada.
      • Opportunity to lead a regional technical team supporting large-scale energy storage projects.
      • Exposure to utility-scale battery energy storage and renewable energy infrastructure.
      • Professional development and training opportunities.
      • Opportunities to work across Canada, the United States, and Latin America.
      • A role with significant technical ownership and leadership responsibility.
      • Opportunity to contribute to projects supporting the transition toward cleaner and more sustainable energy.
