MV Motor Project Manager I

Position Summary

Are you an experienced project professional who enjoys taking ownership of complex engineered equipment projects and working directly with customers, engineers, manufacturing teams, and suppliers?

TIC is seeking a Motor Project Manager to lead customer projects involving medium-voltage electric motors from order acceptance through final delivery and customer acceptance.

In this highly visible role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for assigned projects, coordinating activities across engineering, manufacturing, sales, logistics, suppliers, and customers. You will manage project schedules, budgets, documentation, technical requirements, and customer expectations while helping ensure each project is delivered safely, accurately, on time, and in accordance with contractual commitments.

What You’ll Do

Project Leadership & Execution

• Manage assigned medium-voltage motor projects from order acceptance through shipment, commissioning support, and final customer acceptance.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, deliverables, and customer commitments.
• Coordinate cross-functional activities involving Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Logistics, and other internal and external partners.
• Identify project risks, schedule concerns, technical issues, and potential roadblocks and work with the appropriate teams to drive timely resolution.
• Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates to customers and internal stakeholders.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

• Build strong, professional relationships with customers, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
• Act as a customer advocate while balancing contractual requirements, business objectives, schedules, and project costs.
• Coordinate and participate in customer meetings, project reviews, and site visits as needed.
• Support and host customer-witnessed testing at TIC or partner manufacturing facilities.
• Communicate project changes, risks, delays, and resolutions clearly and proactively.

Commercial & Financial Management

• Review customer purchase orders, specifications, and project documentation to ensure alignment with TIC commitments.
• Manage project costs and authorized expenditures while supporting established budget and margin objectives.
• Coordinate project requirements related to invoicing, progress payments, and title transfers in accordance with applicable JSOX requirements.
• Monitor commercial and contractual obligations throughout the life of the project.

Technical Coordination

• Review and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, customer documentation, and project requirements.
• Coordinate technical questions and documentation between customers and internal engineering teams.
• Support the resolution of technical and manufacturing issues that could affect project schedule, cost, quality, or customer requirements.
• Apply working knowledge of medium-voltage motors and applicable industry standards throughout project execution.

What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
• 2 to 8 years of relevant industry experience, including experience supporting or managing engineered equipment projects.
• Working knowledge of medium-voltage motors or comparable large industrial rotating equipment.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Strong project organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across technical, manufacturing, commercial, and customer-facing teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders in a project-driven environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business/project management systems.
• Ability to travel approximately 5% to 10%, including occasional visits to customer sites, manufacturing facilities, or supplier locations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience managing medium-voltage motor projects.
• Knowledge of applicable motor industry standards, including:
• API 541
• API 547
• IEEE 841
• Familiarity with Incoterms and international or domestic equipment shipments.
• Experience working with engineered-to-order or configure-to-order industrial equipment.
• Experience coordinating customer-witnessed testing or factory acceptance testing.
• Familiarity with ERP, CRM, and project scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project.
• Experience working in an industrial manufacturing or heavy-equipment environment.

Travel

Approximately 5% to 10%, depending on project and customer requirements.

Travel may include customer sites, TIC facilities, supplier locations, and manufacturing facilities.

Physical Requirements

This position primarily operates in a professional office environment but may also involve visits to manufacturing facilities, customer sites, and supplier locations.

Occasionally, employees may be required to:

• Stand or walk for extended periods
• Climb, stoop, squat, or bend
• Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 pounds

Work Environment

Approximately 75% of work is performed in a temperature-controlled environment.

Approximately 25% may be performed in a manufacturing plant, field environment, customer location, or supplier facility. These environments may include exposure to high voltage, industrial equipment, elevated noise levels, changing weather conditions, and other typical industrial hazards. Appropriate safety requirements and procedures must be followed.
